The Greater Harrisburg Area NAACP 64th Annual Freedom Fund Dinner

 

The Greater Harrisburg Area NAACP presents Joe Madison “The Black Eagle” host of the Joe Madison Show on SiriusXM’s Urban View as the keynote speaker at its 64th Annual Freedom Fund Dinner on Saturday, October 13, 2018, at the AFSCME Convention Center, 150 S. 43rd Street, Harrisburg, Pa., beginning at 5 p.m. Among his many accomplishments, Madison was a political director of SEIU and he was also a national board member of the NAACP.

 

“Defeat Hate Vote” is this year’s Freedom Fund Dinner theme and our national theme. Reverend Dr. Franklin Allen, President of the Harrisburg NAACP, will lead this effort that will include voter rights, registration, education and participation as well as redistricting and gerrymandering. “Our future as an organization and how we can carry out our mission of advocacy, for the citizens of the greater Harrisburg area, is crucial to the fight for social justice and civil rights. Who Is Joe Madison?

 

Joe Madison is the most recognized human and civil rights activist and the preeminent African American radio host, aka “The Black Eagle,” on Sirius XM’s Urban View channel. His show’s motto is “What are You Going to Do about It?” and he served as executive director of the Detroit NAACP at the age of 24…he is doggedly progressive, having worked on voter registration efforts and led marches and demonstrations to end the genocide in Darfur.

 

He was named Outstanding Media Personality at the 104th Annual NAACP Convention.In February of 2015, he achieved a historic goal of a 52 hour Marathon broadcast that raised more than $200,000 for the construction of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture.

 

As the leading African American broadcaster today, reaching a potential daily audience of 26 million on SiriusXM, he faces a new area of skepticism about the first African American President and his legacy. He was arrested in front of the UN for protesting against human rights abuses in South Sudan…he went to the heart of Detroit to hold an open Town Hall forum on the issues crippling the blighted city… he has won awards for his audio documentaries on Haiti and other hot button topics of human rights…he has special access to the Obama’s (the President and First Lady have both chosen Joe’s show to spread their message on numerous occasions)…and he doesn’t shy away from the responsibility.
