The Relationship Between Access & Opportunity and Make The Connection

 

Corporations that are recruiting a diverse workforce and talent pool have identified that one of the most significant factors is retention. Based on the work done over the past several years with companies based in Central Pennsylvania and the model developed by Vibrant Pittsburgh, Make The Connection was created.

 

On October 12, 2108, we welcome the return of Melanie Harrington President & Chief Executive Officer of Vibrant Pittsburgh to Access & Opportunity. Joining her is Patricia Bucek National Director of Marketing and Talent Attraction. Vibrant Pittsburgh based on its’ mission ” Works with employers, colleges, universities and diverse community groups to organize, promote and implement efforts designed to welcome and retain more diverse talent.” For any company, government agency, non-profit, or staffing agency in the region that is committed to recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce and talent pool, don’t miss discussion!

 

Make The Connection is an outcome of the previous discussions at the Access & Opportunity Series. The brand identity / perception of Central Pennsylvania as a welcoming community from a diversity perspective is an essential component in someone’s decision to live and work in the region. Several of the critical factors addressed by Make The Connection are retention begins with recruitment, connecting to diverse individuals, resources and organizations is crucial in the relocation process and addressing quality of life are integral to the recruitment and retention process.  The development of this initiative has been supported by and done in conjunction with UPMC Pinnacle, the Dauphin County Commissioners, the Harrisburg Regional Chamber, Penn State Health, the Milton Hershey School and Hershey Entertainment & Resorts to name a few. The bottom line people want the quality of life question answered. Can I enjoy living in Central Pennsylvania? 

 

Make The Connection highlights the richness of culture in the Capital Region as a great place to live and work! We connect people, places, and resources from special events in captivating venues to marketplaces offering a variety of cultural cuisines.
