The Young Professionals of Color of Greater Harrisburg invite you to participate in our Anniversary Celebration YPOC Presents The Board on July 14, 2018. The Board celebrates our organization’s growth in the Harrisburg area since 2016 and raises funds to support the YPOC’s Adopt-A-Classroom program for the 2018-2019 school year.

Supporting educational enrichment in Harrisburg is central to the mission of the YPOC. For that reason, we are proud to announce the dedication of our 2018-2019 classrooms to the legacy of Judith C. Hill, a phenomenal Harrisburg educator, visionary, and national leader.

Ms. Hill graduated from William Penn High School in 1946. She went on to study Elementary Education at Virginia Union, and Advanced Education at Tuskegee. Ms. Hill’s work in education is internationally recognized, with her most notable efforts taking place right here in Harrisburg. She served on the Harrisburg School Board, was the Dean of Students at Harrisburg High School, and Board Chairwoman of Camp Curtin YMCA. She also served as Harrisburg’s first African American city councilwoman. Nationally, Ms. Hill served under President Ronald Reagan in the U.S. Department of Transportation. She has won countless awards. Ms. Hill’s professional affiliations included the Urban League and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.

Judith C. Hill’s extraordinary international influence on education and leadership compel us to honor her legacy. With the permission of the Hill Family, the YPOC will commission a painting in her honor at The Board. Please join the YPOC of Greater Harrisburg in celebrating her life and supporting our students in the Harrisburg School District.
